This server was started in 1993, under the DNS name www.cit.gu.edu.au, which still points to this server, though redirects to the School of ICT's public facing server. It was at that time, the 27th permanent server to start in Australia (according to the australian server list of the time), and probably the first such permanent server in Queensland, and more than likely the only one that has survived since that time. This was a long time before the term "Information Super Highway" had been coined, and the World Wide Web became general and global knowledge.
