The assessment strategy in this course aims to provide a layered approach to developing skills in all aspects of business informatics. Students will search for information, analyse information and communicate information using both traditional software and new media objects (See assessment table below).
Assignment submission will be via Learning@Griffith (electronic assignment submission) and via the course web site. The Amber Risk Assessment Strategy identifies students who do not attend lectures/workshops and tutorials, submit the assessment items or who perform poorly. These students will be contacted by the Convenor and or ICT Department and referred to relevant support services. Amber Risk Assessment Strategy will include Assessment tasks 1 & 2.
The Tasks 1-4 (Collaboration Workshops) include a stepped systems/business analysts approach to the development of an Information Systems Design Document (Task 5) and requires students to gather information and skills towards that end. The exercises focus on the development of skills, the collation of resources and the manipulation of data. Some exercises will be assessed in class, and some will be submitted online within Learning@Griffith.
Task 5 (IS Design Document) uses the results of previous activities in the form of a project and is designed to assess the student's practical ability to develop and operate application software products, in this case using HTML (for example Web Page Design) spreadsheet (for example Excel from the Microsoft Office suite) and MS Access (Database design and manipulation). Students will use their developed skills to prepare an IS Design document for their allocated case study.
Task 6 - Exam
The final exam will consist of a range of short answer questions designed to test the student's understanding of business process requirements and information systems analysis.
