Steve's Blog - A learning journal
Information Systems
Semester 2 2006
As we learn we change who we are. A blog is an excellent way to provide a learning journal so that you can record the things that you have learned each week. Sometimes it requires a bit of thought and that stopping and taking stock of what you know and how you have changed is called "reflection".
This is a web log that records the learning journey as you discover new things in information systems. The blog is recorded in reverse time order so that the most recent entry is towards the top.
Focus: What have I learned?
- What things do I know that I didnt know before?
- What things do I now understand differently?
- What new things have I done that I haven't done before?
Latest entry
- Tuesday 25 July 2006: Alot of links that were available on the WWW in 2002 are no longer available. This means that it is as dynamic in change as everything else to do with computers. I now understand that I work best with a very large bunsen burner aimed at my rear. Having limited time to create and test is really eating into my training time. Lucky it has been raining hey? I have found a whole lot of resources that would be good for the course both online and on a disk sent by the text's publisher. This week I have attempted to answer every student email.
- Friday 21 July 2006: I found out today that you cannot do any work on a broken computer. I am completely reliant on the beige box to accomplish everything that I do at work. What I didnt realise before was just how heavily I relied on computers. Oxymorons have been bothering me. I used think that students were a form of artificial intelligence. This week I have created most of the first weeks requirements for the new 1004INT course.
