Submissions must not exceed 16 pages in LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) format. We encourage authors to cite related work comprehensively, and when citing conference papers please also consider to cite their extended journal versions if applicable.

DASFAA 2018 will employ double-blind reviewing process , every research paper submitted to DASFAA 2018 will undergo a "double-blind" reviewing process: the PC members and referees who review the paper will not know the identity of the authors. To ensure anonymity of authorship, authors must prepare their manuscript as follows:

· Authors' names and affiliations must not appear on the title page or elsewhere in the paper.

· Funding sources must not be acknowledged on the title page or elsewhere in the paper.

· Research group members, or other colleagues or collaborators, must not be acknowledged anywhere in the paper.

· The paper's file name must not identify the authors of the paper. It is strongly suggested that the submitted file be named with the assigned submission number. For example, if your assigned paper number is 352, then name your submission file 352.pdf.

· Source file naming must also be done with care, to avoid identifying the authors' name in the paper's associated metadata. For example, if your name is Jane Smith and you submit a PDF file generated from a .dvi file called Jane-Smith.dvi, your authorship could be inferred by looking into the PDF file.

It is the responsibility of authors to do their very best to preserve anonymity. Papers that do not follow the guidelines here, or otherwise potentially reveal the identity of the authors, are subject to immediate rejection.

Please use one of the following templates for the LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) format:

LaTeX2e Proceedings Templates (zip)

Microsoft Word Proceedings Templates (zip)

Microsoft Word 2003 Proceedings Templates (zip, 229kb)

All papers should be submitted through the EasyChair Conference Management Tool at:

The goal of this track is to discuss emerging trends and challenges with practical implications, and to facilitate interactions between academia and industry in this vital area with growing interests.

Contributions from both industry R&D groups and the academia are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced Analytics of Database Systems

  • Application Areas in Data Management (e.g. Finance, Government, Retail, Telecommunications, Health and Life Sciences)

  • Big Data

  • Mining Industrial/Business Data

  • Cloud Computing

  • Context-Aware Computing

  • Mobile Data Management

  • Graphs and Social Networks

  • Web Data Management

  • Exploitation of New Hardware Trends

Authors should submit papers reporting original work that are currently not under review or published elsewhere. We will accept full papers (up to 12 pages) and extended abstracts (up to 4 pages) in LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) format. Industrial track submissions must be submitted electronically, in pdf format, using the same Conference Management Tool as the research track. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

Call for Demo Papers

The Demonstration Track of DASFAA 2018 provides an engaging and highly interactive way to showcase your database research. Demo submissions are solicited in all areas of database applications, practice, technology, and theory.

All demo submissions need to:

  1. Motivate the demonstrated concepts

  2. Describe the system and the technology

  3. Detail the features and scenarios that will be demonstrated, and

  4. Pinpoint the novelty and significance of the contribution

Authors are encouraged, but not required, to submit a brief video that illustrates the demonstration scenario alongside the paper submission. Demo submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Potential usefulness,

  • Functionality,

  • Potential for engagement with the audience, and

  • Novelty.

Demo submissions must be prepared in accordance with the given submission guidelines for the conference. Demo submissions must not exceed 4 pages, in LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) format , including references.

Only electronic submissions in PDF format will be considered. Please upload your submission to the DASFAA 2018 Demo Track through the CMT submission link below:

https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/DTDASFAA2018

Video submissions can be up to 5 minutes long (file size of up to 30MB), and are optional for demo paper submission. Videos should be submitted in the Easychair system. The video must be in MPEG format and must be playable using a wide variety of media players, including VLC Media player.

Demo submissions must not be under review for any other publishing forum or presentation venue (including conferences, workshops, and journals) during the time they are being considered for DASFAA. Furthermore, after you submit to DASFAA, you must await our response and only resubmit elsewhere if your demo is rejected (or withdrawn at your request). This restriction applies to identical submissions as well as to submissions with a substantial overlap in scientific content and results.

Demo submissions will be included in the conference proceedings

Call for Workshop Proposals

DASFAA (Database Systems for Advanced Applications) is an annual international database conference, typically located in the Asia Pacific region, aiming at showcasing the state of the art and the broad range of activities in database-related research and development. It provides a forum for technical presentations and discussions among database researchers, developers and users from academia, business and industry.

DASFAA 2018, the 23 rd in the series, will be held from 21-24 May 2018 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Gold Coast is a major tourist destination with its sunny subtropical climate. It is a coastal city, 66 km (41 mi) from Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland. The Gold Coast international airport is located less than 30 minutes by road from the Gold Coast city.

We invite proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with DASFAA 2018. Workshops provide a focused environment for exchanging ideas and experiences, discussing controversial issues and identifying impacts of problems – and have proven to be very vibrant events
