P1 2011-2: What to do if you miss a quiz or laboratory exercise
It is very important that you attend all lectures and laboratory classes,
because if you do, you will pass this course. But illness or other
circumstances beyond your control may cause you to miss a laboratory exercise
or a quiz. If this happens to you:
- If you are ill, see a doctor and get a medical certificate.
- Email the convenor immediately identifying:
- yourself (with your student number);
- the course;
- your campus;
- the missed assessment item; and
- the reason the item was missed.
- Download and print this form.
- Complete section 1 of the form.
- See your campus convenor at a consulting time, lecture, common time, or time nominated by the convenor.
The campus convenor will approve your completing this assessment
item at some other time if you have a medical certificate or a valid
reason for missing it. Approval or not will be according to the
university's assessment
policy. If approved, you and the campus convenor will work out when
and where you can do this assessment item, usually at an upcoming
common time.
- Go to the arranged venue to complete the assessment item. In the case
of a laboratory exercise, marks will be recorded on the form and forwarded
to the campus convenor.
Note that the university assessment policy puts a limit of 3 working days
from the time of the assessment item in which to request an alternate time.
Note also that for you to do a laboratory at an alternate time will usually
require us to have the specific robot and props you need available. We will
have them at the arranged time, but after that they will be rebuilt for the
next laboratory or the project. If you miss the arranged time you will need to
see the campus convenor again with a new medical certificate/reason.
