No Love for Spriteby I. Love CokenotspriteOnce in a small town there lived a pretty little Sprite called Lem Enlime. She flitted from store to store looking for a place to land where she could see her intensly beautiful face reflected in the glass storefront. Everywhere Lem went she was displeased, for all the storefronts had smudged glass. Frustrated, Lem flew out of the small town and into the forest to be alone. She perched on a large granite rock near the quickly moving stream and sulked... "How is it that no one noticed my beauty today. Am I not the most refreshing sight in earth?" A small tinkeling voice replied, "No dear sprite, I am far more refreshing than you." Looking around, Lem furrowed her brow. "Who said that? Answer me! Who dares question my beauty? I am the image of 'refreshing'" The voice answered, "Tis I. Come near and you shall see that my beauty far exceeds your own." Lem followed the voice down toward the stream. "Where are you?" She cried. "I am here. Come closer. Kneel down at the stream and you will see me." Lem edged closer to the stream, searching for a face that could even begin to rival her own. As she peered into the stream she caught a glimpse of what she could only describe as the most wonderous beauty that she had ever seen. "Oooh I see you. Why, you ARE the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." As Lem reached down to touch the enchanting face, she tumbled head first into the churning water. Quickly the water pulled the little sprite under and her life fizzled out. The poor Sprite had been tricked by the stream, for the vision she saw was her own reflection. The voice tittered "Image is nothing."
